Nebraska is one of those states that don’t jump into people’s mind when they think of big bucks. The state has kept a low profile when it comes to trophy bucks but one look in the record books lets you know the real story. A Nebraska buck held the #1 spot for P&Y for many years with a score of 279 5/8”, the “Del Austin buck” or how about “The General”. “The General” is a set of sheds that were picked up with a typical score of 218”. This would blow the current world record out of the water. Nebraska’s state typical record is a stud that scored 199 5/8. These three whitetails are world class in all aspects. Nebraska keeping a low profile in the trophy world is a great thing for the hunter. A low profile has kept the hunting pressure and demand to a minimum. Along with the overall hunting pressure Fur and Feather will do its part to create an unpressured environment as well. Read More >>>
Hunter numbers in deer camp will be kept to a bare minimum to keep the hunting pressure low to maximize every hunter’s opportunity. For the past several years Fur and Feather has given hunters a 75% opportunity on whitetails that scores at least 130”. What this “opportunity” means is that 75% of our hunters have taken shots at legal bucks. These numbers have remained stable for several consecutive years.
On all of the properties controlled by Fur and Feather Outdoors a chance at true once in a lifetime Whitetail could happen at any moment. Fur and Feather has gained exclusive control of approximately 50,000 acres of the best hunting that Nebraska has to offer. These acres include fertile river bottoms, Oak filled canyons, spring fed creek bottoms, cedar scrub canyons and open prairie.
All of our properties are under strict Quality Deer Management guidelines. The minimum for any whitetail harvest will be 130” or a 4.5 yr old deer. These minimums have been established to provide world class hunting for years to come. There are monetary fines for any deer that is taken that does not reach this minimum.
Our average whitetail will gross score in the upper 130’s to low 140’s. Each season much bigger deer are killed but like I tell every hunter, “You are only here for 4 to 5 days and don’t let a deer walk on the first day that you would kill the last”! If you want a true shot on a 150+ the hunter has to be disciplined enough to let 140’s walk and be willing to go home empty handed. This is a true wild hunt where weather, the rut, and conditions that are not controllable often set the playing field for success.

Nebraska’s Mule Deer is often overlooked as well. Nebraska is as far East as Mule Deer are found but with that comes a few advantages. Mule deer in Nebraska live a pretty “cushy” life compared to their cousins farther west. This “cushiony” life gives them the ability to grow BIG! They have more than ample amounts of food and combine this with BIG ranches to get the age they need, the results are BIG DEER. The state record non-typical scored 265” along with the state typical which scored 200"! A typical Mule Nebraska Deer hunt begins just as light begins to fade the darkness. Most of the time you will be glassing some type of food source hoping to spot your Muley before he heads into a canyon to bed for the day. Then the rest of the day is spent playing cat and mouse trying to get close enough for a high quality archery or rifle shot.

A lot of hunters are amazed at the country that we hunt. Very few people realize how rugged and remote Nebraska’s back country can be. There’s a lot more here than cornfields! Fur and Feather has gained control of some of Nebraska’s best Mule Deer ground. These various ranches are BIG and REMOTE but this is what it takes to grow trophy Mule Deer. We take a very limited number of Mule deer hunters each season due to the fact that most people are coming out for whitetails. However saying that a Whitetail hunt can change to a Mule Deer hunt just as quick as we see the one you want. In Nebraska your Deer tag is good for either a Whitetail or Mule Deer! You don’t have to decide until you squeeze the trigger! If you are in search of a great Mule Deer give us a call.

Lots of Birds and Hard Gobbling Action best describes this hunt! You will be hunting all of our beautiful 50,000 acres of private land comprised of rolling hills, canyons, creeks and Platte River bottoms. Every inch of our properties have birds, and they are here in huge quantities. Our birds gobble hard and respond to the call well. This is a great hunt to introduce someone to the Outdoors due to its success rate and its fast paced action. Great for couples, parents/children, or two friends that love to hunt together. For the archery chasing Turkeys Nebraska is one of the few states that has a separate spring Archery Turkey season. Grab your blind and bow and head to Nebraska to chase gobblers weeks before shotguns are allowed. During the archery hunt the birds are still bunched up and easy to pattern so there should be several shot opportunities.

Option One The first will be a fully guided hunt where your guide will help you get your Gobbler. The guide will take you to an area that he knows holds birds and will do his best to call one in for you. You will hunt until you have shot or until Lunch. At Lunch we will usually take a break and enjoy the Lodge. After Regrouping your guide will take you back out for your evening hunt. Most evening hunts will consist of setting up around a field, or similar area that the guide knows that the birds frequent in the P.M.. After your evening hunt is finished you will return to the lodge to enjoy a home cooked meal and some good fellowship before you turn in for the night. This hunt will have a very high success rate!
Option Two The second option will be unguided. Here we will show you the property lines and let you go on your own. We will know that there are birds in the area so you are not starting completely cold but it will be up to you from there to set up and call in your bird. When we drop you off we will have arranged a pick up time and place for your guide to pick you up at. At your pick up we will load up and head back to the lodge for Lunch. After you have rested up we will take you back out on your evening hunt. We will take you to a place that turkeys frequent in the evening and help you get settled in. Blind hunting is a very popular evening option. Your guide will pick you up at fly up time and you will return to the lodge for supper and you will have a bed waiting on you.
On the Turkey hunts you will be hunting in a camp with a champion caller. Jason Edney, the owner of Fur and Feather Outdoors has won several local and state calling contest, plus he has placed in National calling contests. Jason is sponsored by Legacy Game Calls out of Rock Hill S.C. This hunt will be a great learning experience for someone wanting to learn how to call in a smart old Long Beard! Plus there is no telling who you will be sharing turkey camp with. There is a good chance you may have seen some of our guest on the Outdoor Channel!
